Antique Pelinkovac is the oldest and most famous premium herbal liqueur of the Badel company and also one of the most fascinating Croatian drinks.
Created by Franjo Pokorny, master distiller, businessman, chemist and founder of the Pokorny company, one of the predecessors of Badel 1862. During his productive and extraordinary career, he revolutionized the production of alcoholic beverages, developed numerous recipes for successful brands, received various awards for his work, and laid the foundation for the modern spirits industry in the region.
Antique was initially sold exclusively in pharmacies as a “digestive” because it was believed that wormwood (Artemisia absinthium), the main ingredient in Antique, purifies the blood and strengthens the stomach.
The ancient Egyptians recommended it as an antiseptic and antipyretic, Pythagoras reported that wormwood soaked in wine helped with childbirth, and Hippocrates prescribed it as a remedy for anemia and rheumatism.
Antique Pelinkovac's original recipe includes 40+ aromatic authentic Mediterranean herbs and 100% natural ingredients.
No artificial flavors, no preservatives, no flavor enhancers, no compromises. The aroma of this premium herbal liqueur is dominated by wormwood, an aromatic herb that is characterized by its scent and bitter note and has a beneficial effect on the human body.
The authentic A. Ziemann copper kettle has been one of the main players in creating the unique and timeless Antique taste since 1921.
Currently, the cauldron contains crystallized herbal residues from over 100 years of production, which you can taste in every single Antique bottle.
