The winemaker Zlatan Plenković and his family business Zlatan otok doo are considered one of the pioneers of the new Croatian winemaking scene. He is considered the most important winemaker in the Dalmatia region. He has shaped it like no other. Zlatan Plavac Hvar is a premium red wine made from the Plavac mali grape variety from Sv. Nedjelja on the island of Hvar, Croatia. The vineyards are located on the southern slopes of the island. The vines are cultivated manually without artificial protection or fertilizers. The wine matures in large wooden barrels, for a year in stainless steel barrels and for another 4 months in bottles after bottling.
