Punta Greca is an outstanding wine from one of Croatia's most spectacular vineyards. It comes from a virtually grandiose location and is produced in limited quantities. This wine is considered one of Croatia's leading red wines and the crown jewel of the Medea winery.
The wine comes from a 3.4 hectare vineyard located right next to Ližnjan on the spectacular Cape Punta Grkova on the Marlera. It is surrounded by the sea on three sides and is the southernmost vineyard in Istria. The location is truly unique and perfect for producing a premium wine.
Due to extreme weather, Punta Greca is not produced every year. The vines are directly exposed to winds, salt deposits and daily sunshine. But that is exactly what makes this wine and the vineyard so special.
Coming from an area that has grown Merlot for over a century and a half, this wine is aged in wood for 18 to 24 months and then bottled unfiltered in Burgundy bottles. Each bottle is numbered.
Punta Greca is an exceptional terroir wine. The high proportion of clay particles in the red soil and sand, as well as the constant exposure of the vineyard to the winds on both sides of the peninsula, give it a unique character.
