Teran (Terrano or Refosco) red wine from Istria - Croatia

Teran (also Terrano or Refosco) is a red wine variety that is closely related to Refosco. It is grown in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Slovenia and Croatia. The wines from this variety are characterized by a deep dark red color and fruity aromas. Teran wines have notes of blackberries, plums, wild berries as well as herbs and spices such as pepper. Freshness and ripe fruit dominate on the palate, supported by a balanced acidity and gentle tannins.

Teran goes well with lamb, pasta dishes, meatballs, grilled pork and poultry.
